Sci Fi/Fantasy TV Shows Premiering This Week
The Last of Us (HBO): The series takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival. Premieres Sunday at 9 PM EST.
Velma (HBO Max): VELMA is an adult animated comedy series telling the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the unsung and under appreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang. This original and humorous spin unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers. Premieres on Thursday.
Servant (Apple TV+): Servant follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home. Season 4 premieres on Friday.
Schedule Notes
Willow wraps its first season on Wednesday. There has been no word on a second season of that one yet. Syfy is currently running repeats of the 2019 Twilight Zone on Wednesday nights, and that one is worth checking out if you never saw it during its streaming run.
