Eragon TV Series in the Works at Disney+, Bruce Campbell Hints at Animated Ash vs. Evil Dead

Disney+ has put into development a live-action television series based on the YA fantasy novels The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini.  Variety gives the following description of the story:

The Inheritance Cycle tells the story of a farmboy named Eragon who discovers an egg that hatches into a dragon he names Saphira. Through their bond and the help of his mentor Brom, Eragon learns to be a Dragon Rider, an ancient order that had long been thought to be wiped out by the evil king Galbatorix. Eragon and Saphira set out to defeat Galbatorix and free the land of Alagaƫsia from his tyranny.

Eragon is the title of the first book in the series and the TV show will use that as its name.  Paolini will serve as co-writer and executive producer on the series.  Eragon was previously adapted to the big screen in 2006, but it had a modest performance at the Box Office and the planned sequels were cancelled.  Disney+ will be looking to add the show to its slate of originals likely in 2023.

In an interview during San Diego Comic-Con, Bruce Campbell indicated that there are currently talks of continuing the Ash vs. Evil Dead television series in animated form.  Following are his comments on the show:

You can do the future a lot easier in animation. I still sound like Ash, and you know, my voice hasn’t been as beat up as my body has been so I can still do that crap. So I’ll still do the video game. And we’re already talking about an animated [series].

The live-action series went for three seasons on Starz, and apparently the animated show would pick up where that left off.  Nothing has been officially announced yet, so consider this at the rumor stage for now.
